In the pipeline, pending funding
More than Grandparents
A Sunderland kinship care charity supporting families where grandparents, aunts and uncles are raising children when the parents can't. This isn't a delivered case study, it's a real project I'm hoping to build if the funding comes together.
Who they are
A kinship care charity based in Sunderland, supporting kinship carers and the children in their care with advice, peer support and referral routes into wider services.
What they need
Their current site is years out of date and unreadable on a phone. It needs to do two jobs. Help a worried kinship carer who's never heard of them find help and feel allowed to ask. And look credible to the funders who decide whether the charity gets its next grant.
The plan
Content and structure agreed with the charity first, in plain language, before any design work starts. Then a warm, accessible rebuild: who they help, what kinship care is, services and session times, an impact section for funders, self-referral and contact, and a donate link to a third-party tool. No clutter, no jargon.
The accessibility angle
Their users are often older, stressed, and low in digital confidence. Accessible, readable design isn't a nice extra here, it's the whole point. It would get built to proper standards so the people who need help can actually use it.
